We slept in today and started out rather late, since we only had to be someplace at 2pm. Took a lazy morning.

Since we had to be at Studio Ghibli for our 2pm tour and no plans before that, we headed to the Meiji shrine to kill some time. And that we did. )

Time spent, we headed to Studio Ghibli and experienced several mad-dashes and turn-arounds before making it. There were no pictures allowed in the studio, but I got some of the outside. )

It was really cool to look at all the exhibits. Studio Ghibli is a studio that makes animated films, including all of the Miyazaki films and Grave of the Fireflies. They had everything from sketches to look at to an entire room full of "animation in the making" with film strips, cell blocks, color charts, and mechanical animation (which was the coolest thing). There was also a short film being shown, about sumo mice, that I really enjoyed, and a room containing the Cat Bus from My Neighbor Totoro for kids to play on. It was incredibly packed and the gift shop was an...interesting experience, but I had fun seeing all the behind-the-scenes work. You also got a little bit of 35mm film from a Studio Ghibli film with your ticket. I got Kiki's Delivery Service!

It was after 5 when we left, and we planned to go to Harujuku before it got too dark, but Donna wanted to stop at an exclusive jazz club called Blue Note to get a shirt for her husband. So off we go, only to not find it. And not find. And not find it. We walked up and down several big main streets and several more side streets and an hour and a half later decided, "well, guess it's a really exclusive club" and gave up. By then it was too late to really go anywhere else, so we just headed back to the hotel.

Tomorrow (my last full day sobsob) we see CATS (!!!) and go from there to the famous Harajuku bridge because we really need to see it in the daytime. We're getting up early-ish too, hopefully to check out a place called Takashimaya, if we can find it. I have a few things I still need to get before heading home! Got to sort through my bags and stuff tomorrow night for packing too. That'll be fun...
Note to self: Figure out which Terminal building I'm supposed to be departing from.
