I officially am leaving for France. It was pretty official before, but what with sort of putting it out of my mind until about a week ago, I felt the reminder necessary.
I'm all packed, including my new passport, which set me back $110 (that number includes the fast return that I paid $12.50 extra for). I'm wary about the passport, but I'm hoping not to encounter any problems.
The packing was a bit involved this time. It's about a 10-day with travel, and for that I'd normally just take my carry-on and skip the baggage check even though I get one free with international flights. However, as always when visiting an overseas friend, I asked if Adriana wanted anything particular from the states that she missed. The answer? Peanut butter! Apparently France doesn't do it well.
Upon checking, however, I learned that Peanut Butter is considered a gel or liquid and thus can't be taken in a carry-on. Not to worry. I decided to check my usual carry on instead (peanut butter included), and take a backpack with my emergency kit and all things I Would Not Want To Lose. Simple, and now I don't need to worry about an overhead bin either.
Flight leaves at 9:30pm, I'm leaving for the airport around 6:10pm, arrival time 11:20am in France. Pretty excited, and absolutely looking forward to the trip.
